High Efficiency, High Reliability Rectifier Combines Easy Installation with High Performance at Competitive Pricing for Network Growth

DongAh Elecomm, a leading provider of power supplies for telecom, industrial and medical markets, introduces its new 288W LOPU-A4L rectifier from the Cheshire™ Series designed to support expansive growth in small cell 4G/LTE wireless/telecom base stations and network equipment.

DongAh Elecomm has extensive experience in the wireless/telecom market, having deployed more than 200,000 small cell systems internationally. Small cells are being added globally to increase capacity in hot spots with high user demand and to fill in areas not covered by a macro network. They also improve network performance and service quality by offloading demand from traditional base stations, reducing both cost and power requirements. By 2017, small cells are expected to carry nearly all mobile network data traffic. By 2018, it’s predicted that some 11 million small cells will be in use, a roughly five-fold expansion since 2013.

The LOPU-A4L rectifier module provides high efficiency network power at competitive pricing, with quick and easy installation, a small footprint and inconspicuous IP65-rated enclosure for outdoor applications. The unit utilizes free-air convection cooling that requires no fans. It is designed to meet UL® and Telcordia Technologies Industry Standards with high reliability.

LOPU-A4L Key Features:

  • High efficiency
  • Suitable enclosure for outdoor applications
  • Discreet appearance
  • Designed for high reliability
  • Free air convection cooling; no fans
  • Easy installation with quick-mount brackets
  • International Safety Approvals (pending)

Other products in DongAh’s Cheshire Series of small cell power systems include:

In its annual report, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) projects that by the end of this year, 40% of the world’s population (about 2.7 billion people) will be online. It is also estimated that there will be 6.8 billion mobile connections (equal to the number of people living on earth today). Mobile broadband has become the fastest growing segment of the global ICT (information and communications technology) market.

The DongAh CWRS-4150A modular power system is currently being deployed to major telecommunication companies in the US and Europe in support of this expansive growth. The CWRS-4150A provides up to 8KW of power in a compact 2U shelf and is NEBS certified for Zone 4 seismic activity.

Our SRRH-4805 was used for the LTE deployment in Korea, which is noted for having the best IT infrastructure in the world. The SRRH-4805 module provides outdoor power for next generation 4G/LTE picocell networks. It can be deployed at a lower cost than other power systems used to enhance LTE deployments.

The ITU says that the proportion of households with Internet access in developing countries went from 12% in 2008 to 28% in 2013, “a remarkable 18% compound annual growth rate.” South Korea has been named the most tech-developed country for the third year in a row. Northern European countries (Sweden, Iceland, Denmark, Finland and Norway, in that order) make up the the next five ICT leaders. The UK moves up three notches to number-eight; the U.S. drops down one position to number 17.

Additional figures from the ITU report include:

• 250 million additional people came online in 2012
• Mobile broadband is now more affordable than fixed broadband
• Almost the whole world is now within reach of mobile cellular service
• 30% of the world’s young population are ‘digital natives’ (15- to 24-yr-olds with 5 or more years of online experience)
• Broadband is getting faster; 2Mbps now most popular basic package

The ITU is the UN agency that oversees IT and communications development. For more information, view the full ITU news release.
